Re: Bad Company 2 Dedicated Server Details
I saw Phil's one night, but it was empty. This game is actually decent when it works...

Re: Bad Company 2 Dedicated Server Details
The server is usually jam packed - the "play now" feature seems to bump people into a random server that has at least 10 folk - as soon as there are 10 people manually joined, the servers goes to 32 in about 10-20 seconds...
I've personally had almost no ingame connectivity issues... the server browser/EA master server situation is a big issue (god damn but its slow!).
The Rush + no jihad + no killcam + no 3d spotting rulesset is getting plenty of positive feedback as well - most servers seem to be running either everything on or everything off (hardcore) - not many server admins seem to have a well thought out middle of the road ruleset.
I'm also pleased to see that sniper stacking is still completely useless - any match with more than 4 snipers on an attacking team usually ends up with them loosing due to not being able to adequetely assault flags.
For anyone picking up the game to play online, remember that the initial starting weapons (other than the first sniper rifle, which is the 2nd best in the game!) are pish - most of the unlocks are a big improvement and feel a lot more consistent. I'm currently rocking an HK416 + 4x scope + foregrip + M203 setup and am laying out the pain on every game.

Re: Bad Company 2 Dedicated Server Details
I still need to find some time to go through my server configs and get everything done that I want.

Re: Bad Company 2 Dedicated Server Details
1. Not available at the moment, probably in line with the "no-private servers" angle.
2. No LAN play, see 1.
3. download pbsetup from even balance to manually update your punkbuster files - the automatic background updater is shit.

Re: Bad Company 2 Dedicated Server Details
1. How easy is it to find the server we have up there then. 2. That's pretty crap isn't it? Lan's are big parts of server based games. 3. Ok thanks

Re: Bad Company 2 Dedicated Server Details
There's no easy way to add them. I managed to add Gunboat Diplomacy after searching for Rush mode, ranked server and Punkbuster enabled. Wait half a century for the browser to appear, sort it alphabetically then pray that it's included along with the rest of Multiplay's servers.
As for IceWinds server, every time I attempt to add it to my favourites it crashes my game to desktop and it doesn't appear in my history. Go figure! As Pimpatine said, when this game works it's tremendous, but 85% of the time it's a fucking royal pain in the plums.
(Also PKM + Red Dot + Increased Heal Range + Extra Vehicle Armour = Neil getting an average of 3000 points in a single round!)

Re: Bad Company 2 Dedicated Server Details
Was on Ice's earlier getting my arsehole widened.
Quick question, do vehicle abilities like extra armour only get applied by the driver, or do passengers/gunners get theirs applied too? i.e. could you mix and match to get a tank with extra armour and the personnel sensor?

Re: Bad Company 2 Dedicated Server Details
Yes, you can mix and match them, which makes squad teamwork all the more important. One person in a tank with extra armour + secondary gunner with more powerful ordnance is a quality combination. Especially if one of them's an engineer!

Re: Bad Company 2 Dedicated Server Details
You can manually add servers to your favourites list by dumping the details into your settings file (lives in my documents). Its not as simple as IP + name though, its a wierd seemingly sensless string.
Basically get someone to cut and paste the server info from thier settings file and you just bung it into yours.
I'll post the one for =GD= later on.
I've unlcoked all the Assault gear now, along with a load of the recon/engineer stuff and most of the vehicles upgrades. Trying to get some of the basic Medic stuff, so I can work up to the filthy, filthy hax cannon that is the M60 now.
Still cant get most of my games to appear on the BF veterans page, so can't get access to my fucking M1 or the shotgun solid slugs. Bah.

Re: Bad Company 2 Dedicated Server Details
yeah all my 1942 cd keys were said to be in use along with my 2142 username not being right (althought if I use the same thing that I put in the box on the 242 site it works perfect) and my 1943 account cant be carried over cause they aint added it to the site yet.
