 Re: Rock Band Volume
I'm not really bothered about the volume of rockband. At night maybe turn it down a bit when folk are sleeping. But i think the problem really is the drums, they get pretty annoying after a while, so yeah, maybe silencers pads for them or something?

 Re: Rock Band Volume
The drums didn't bother me as much as the volume of the music. I couldn't hear either my game volume or my tactical ventrilo buddies over the volume of rock band, and this happened many times over the course of the LAN. My only options were to go and ask for it to be turned down or turn my medusas (medusae?) up to a painful, ear-damaging volume. The problem with the first option was that it kept getting turned back up 5 minutes later, and sometimes by a staff member This kind of behaviour is blatant cuntism, and shows a total lack of consideration for the other occupants of the hall. I should point out that I was at the stage end of the hall, too.

Your tactical SupCom comms? I heard Nick, it was basically "Right, more nukes, more nukes, how about some more nukes?"

Granted I missed at least one game that Nick was in, but not a single nuke was fired in any of the games I played in

 Re: Rock Band Volume
Anyway, could we just move Rock Band and console corner through to the room adjacent to the gents toilets? Would be far enough away that people could crank it to ear-bleeding volumes and it wouldn't annoy people in the hall. Also, I would have something interesting to tap my feet to while taking a shit. Overall, it didn't bother me too much but I was in a good mood. If it had been another LAN when I was less cheery, I'd probably have been fucking raging.

 Re: Rock Band Volume
Thats a good place to put it tbh theres going to be people going past all the time and it's well out of the way. Only problem is it looks like the dobby hall poeple are using it as a furniture store atm would need to clear it in time for next LAN.

 Re: Rock Band Volume
It shouldn't be too big a problem, people were sleeping there at the last LAN. We'll just need to nudge them elsewhere, like the kitchens or the bogs. Whatever we do, it's got to remove the drum tapping from the main hall. Ban the drums altogther, anyone?

 Re: Rock Band Volume
Only thing about using the cloak room is its well out the way to keep a watch on the equipment.
Banning the drum, cant see that happening lol.

 Re: Rock Band Volume
The only real issue to me is that Run to the Hills gets really old after the 12th time. And Im a HUGE Maiden fan, lol. The stage is seeming to be the best place for it.

 Re: Rock Band Volume
Let me get this straight. Song repetition and drum tapping is what people hate about Rockband/Guitar Hero. Take out the song problem with headsets, your still left with the drum tapping (although the actual singing might get to some people). The stage is off-limits because of the combination of drunks and height. Relocating to the cloakroom is out of the question due to security. Options left 1)Live with it. 2)Either find quieter drums or a way to quieten the ones we have. 3)I'm sure there was a room off-limits at GL24, upstairs at the front of the hall. How about moving it here? Edit 4)No more Rockband/Guitar Hero

 Re: Rock Band Volume
Any off limits rooms are off limits for a reason. The one upstairs at the front is usually used by tiny kiddy dancers on the Saturday morning I think.

 Re: Rock Band Volume
The thing with the console corner Barrie is that its not always the same people on it. So if you requested someone to turn it down, someone else will come along not knowing your request and shove it back up again. It would be good if the volume was set to a specific level for the entire LAN and no one is allowed to touch it. No one really needs to hear the music that well in order to play it. Also Psychofly's mesh drums are, I think, quieter than the originals - how about a gumpcom purchase of flys drums? Although I bet he'll charge stupid prices

 Re: Rock Band Volume
Aye, you should open a donation scheme to buy Fly's drums. Everyone contributes a wee bit, and we don't get the constant click-click-click.
